OUT OF DARKNESS VOLUNTEER APPLICATION

Thank you for your interest in joining the Out of Darkness Middle Georgia team!

Out of Darkness is the anti-trafficking ministry of Frontline Response.

In the 21st century, far too many people are trapped in the darkness of sex trafficking.

Frontline Response is on the frontlines every day rescuing these individuals. When people are rescued out of sex trafficking, they can begin to walk out God's purpose for their lives and become a beacon of light for others.

SPIRITUAL BACKGROUND

Because Frontline Response is a faith-based organization, it is important that our volunteers share our core beliefs. We are not concerned about denominational affiliations or agreement on contested theological issues; and we do not think Christians are superior to anyone else. Rather, it is our belief that we have nothing to offer these women apart from Jesus, and we rely on the Holy Spirit to work through us to make an impact in their lives. Please answer the questions below regarding your personal relationship with Jesus that shares what the Lord has done and is doing in your life. As with all volunteer application documents, this information will be kept confidential and only reviewed by necessary staff and key volunteer team leaders.

Are you part of a church community?*

STATEMENT OF FAITH

STEP 3 OF 6: STATEMENT OF FAITH

We ask that volunteers interested in serving with us share our fundamental beliefs set forth in the Statement of Faith. If you do not share these beliefs, please decline from signing and know that we appreciate your involvement. We would love to discuss with you the ways you can move forward with Frontline Response: Out of Darkness, and we value what you bring to the organization and to the anti-trafficking movement. If you have any questions about this Statement, or would like to discuss it further, please contact our director at middlega@outofdarkness.org.

I believe the Bible is the written word of God, inspired by the Holy Spirit and without error in the original manuscripts. The Bible is the revelation of God’s truth and is infallible and authoritative in all matters of faith and practice.

  • I believe in the Holy Trinity. There is one God, who exists eternally in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
  • I believe that all are sinners and totally unable to save themselves from God’s displeasure, except by His mercy.
  • I believe that Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, who through His perfect life and sacrificial death atoned for the sins of all who will trust in Him, alone, for salvation.
  • I believe that the Holy Spirit indwells God’s people and gives them the strength and wisdom to trust Christ and follow Him.
  • I believe that Jesus will return, bodily and visibly, to judge all mankind and to receive His people to Himself.
  • I believe that every aspect of the Christian life is to be lived to the glory of God under the Lordship of Jesus Christ.

VOLUNTEER EXPECTATIONS

STEP 4 OF 6: Frontline Response: Out of Darkness - VOLUNTEER EXPECTATIONS

We believe in God’s design for leadership, and that individuals in leadership positions at Frontline Response: have been granted authority to lead by God through the Frontline Response Board of Directors and the senior leadership of Frontline. As leaders, we are committed to pursuing the heart of God and His will.

We desire to support and encourage you, our volunteers, in your own healing and spiritual walk with Christ. While we do not expect perfection from any volunteer, choosing not to submit to the authority of the leadership at Frontline Response: Out of Darkness could have potentially dangerous or otherwise harmful consequences for the team and for the individuals the team serves. Failure to comply with direct instructions and expectations that you’ve committed to can be grounds for dismissal from serving.

Our heart with these expectations is not to be self-righteous or legalistic, but it is a sincere desire to be holy. We want our very lives to be a sacrifice to the Lord, acceptable and pleasing to Him. We also seek to live in a manner worthy of the Gospel and befitting a disciple of Jesus.

By accepting a volunteer position within Frontline Response: Out of Darkness, I agree to abide by the following:

  • My first priority is my relationship with Jesus, and I commit to pursuing Him with all my heart, soul, mind, and strength. I understand that my identity is not in what I do but in whom God has declared me to be. (John 2:12)
  • Recognizing the importance of my own emotional, spiritual, and mental well-being as I pour into the lives of others, I will seek to actively connect within a church body for my own spiritual growth, encouragement, healing, and accountability as a follower of Jesus. (1 Corinthians 12; Hebrews 10:25)
  • I will consciously guard the unity of ADC. If I have a problem to be resolved, I will reach out to that person directly and/or the appropriate team leaders accordingly. When I do have a conflict to be addressed, I will do so in a way that honors and restores those involved. (Ephesians 4:3; Matthew 18:15–17; Romans 12:18)
  • I will be thoughtful with my words, knowing the “tongue has the power of life and death” (Proverbs 18:21). As part of the Body of Christ, I will not slander, malign, verbally attack, nor share in gossip, neither will I break the confidentiality of staff, volunteers, or individuals being served. I will use my words to encourage and build others up in the Lord. (Titus 3:2; Ephesians 4:29)
  • I will choose a life of sobriety. If under the age of 21, I will abstain from drinking alcohol in accordance with the law. If 21 or older, realizing the impact my example could have on those we serve and others, I will not become intoxicated when drinking and will carefully weigh the repercussions when choosing to drink in a public/social setting and regarding social media. (Ephesians 5:18; Romans 13:1; 1 Corinthians 10:31-33)
  • I will pursue a life of sexual integrity and purity, honoring the Lord and others by abstaining from premarital sex, adultery, homosexual relations, consumption of pornography, and inappropriate relationships with survivors. (1 Corinthians 6:9-20; Acts 21:25; 1 Thessalonians 4:3-8)
  • I will consciously guard what I watch, read, and listen to so as not to grieve the Holy Spirit. I will seek to live above reproach, including abstaining from even the appearance of evil. (Philippians 4:8; 2 Corinthians 5:20; Romans 12:2; Matthew 6:22-23; 1 Corinthians 6:12)

These expectations are intended for people serving in a more in-depth position (i.e. Encounter, Jail, Hotline, Rescue Team, Safe Home, etc.), not for those serving in an event capacity (i.e., Princess Night, Adopt-a-block, etc.).
